Been awhile since I took the time to comment.
This is something everyone who advertises has to face sooner or later.
Sex sells.. no question, but as in this case there's a line that can be crossed and then you have to deal with the negative reactions.
This isn't restricted to sex in advertising.
People have used misleading headlines and content for years to bring people to buy. Inflated claims of positive results had to be regulated.. but unscrupulous advertisers still find a way to embellish the facts without outright lies. (dont' forget the rapid fire disclaimers spoken at the end of ads.. or the super fine print that few people ever read)
Whether I find the ad offensive or not is immaterial. The news coverage said it clearly. People are UNABLE to avoid it. Children and are inappropriately exposed and their parents are unable to prevent it.
The one lady said it rightly so..that it's about time to begin some form of regulating of billboards. Fact is I don't think a television ad of this nature would have made it past the censor's table.
I'm no prude by any stretch but I do believe in freedom of choice. These kinds of ads in public places takes away that freedom of choice.

Just looking around at the media bombardment we are all subjected to, I do not see how a child could stay "protected" unless one shielded them from all TV and internet and never let them out in public.
Is looking at the ad a better or worse experience than looking at:

It's no longer the 1950's -60's where Lucy and Desi's Bedroom was shown w/ separate beds.
The Teen demographics ( the likely target) now has credit cards in their own name and do their own shopping, unlike most who parents supervised what garments where bought. Cripes I remember my father having to approve my Prom dress.
Teens are texting and hooking up - and not to play hoops on a court. It's a different world - things evolve. Sex, Sexual Orientation, Gender Transitions, and all things once not socially acceptable to speak of are now mainstream topics
I don't like the orgy scene, I though would rather as a parent address the image to my teen as a non acceptable behavior ... my teen is now 20 and was exposed to much, he grew up w/ a good head on his shoulders.
I guess that key...we know kids are exposed to much...much more then we were as kids. It's the parents job to teach "morals" NOT the ad agency job to grow good morals
Deep down we all most likely inhaled once, drank underage, snuck out after hours to meet that boy/girl, made prank calls, ...our kids are doing the same. Lets hope the image doesnt make teens think orgies are cool again, we'd come so far as to safe sex etc. :-)

Amazing to me, the small children dressed up by parents to look like mini hookers.
It's not alsways just outside the home that children get to see things perhaps they would be better off not witnessing.

One said she would do one boy because he was not popular and she felt bad.

My sister step daughter wanted to go shopping with me one weekend about a year ago. She came out of house wearing a short school girl type skirt with thigh high socks and a revealing little blouse. She had on more make up then I at age 40's wear. She was 14.
I made her go in and change ...she thru a grand tantrum, I departed w/out her. My sister was not home, but later blew a gasket. The girls biological mom allows ( and likely encourages) her to dress that way. She no longer visits...to many rules.
